The 2027 deadline, explained

Every SAP migration is really three projects: custom code, data, and the business carrying on while both happen. The date does not move for you.

Talk to an SAP Expert

Support does not just stop

Mainstream maintenance ends in 2027. Extended support runs to 2030, at a premium.

Custom code is the long pole

Every Z-program and modification has to be assessed, remediated or retired first.

Your data sets the timeline

SAP data migration moves fast on clean master data. Most ECC landscapes are not.

Waiting narrows your options

Partner capacity tightens as 2027 nears. Late projects cost more and rush harder.

Inside an SAP S/4HANA migration

Nobody signs off an SAP S/4HANA migration on a benefits slide. These are the six things a steering committee actually argues about.

Get Started
Discovery and readiness
Path and business case
Data cleansing and mapping
Proof of concept build
Migration in waves
Cutover and hypercare

Find your answers

What is the difference between greenfield, brownfield and bluefield? +

Greenfield is a clean build on standard S/4HANA, with processes redesigned and only the data you choose to bring across. Brownfield converts your existing system in place, keeping history and configuration. Bluefield is selective: new build where your processes are a mess, carried over where they work. Most enterprises assume brownfield is cheaper, then find their custom code decides for them.

How long does an SAP S/4HANA migration take? +

For most mid-size landscapes, 12 to 18 months from kickoff to go-live. Single-entity brownfield conversions can land in six to nine. Multi-country greenfield programmes run longer. The three variables that move the date are custom code volume, master data quality and how many legal entities go live in the same wave. Adding people late rarely recovers a slipped date.

Can the business keep running during the migration? +

Yes. Cutover is planned in waves rather than one weekend where everything changes at once, and each wave carries a fallback that has been rehearsed on your data. Month-end close, invoicing and shipping keep running throughout. The disruption people remember from ECC-era projects usually traces back to untested cutover plans, not to the migration itself.

Should we move to SAP cloud or stay on-premise? +

It depends on how much control you need and how you want to hold the cost. RISE with SAP and private cloud shift spend from capital to operating and hand infrastructure to SAP or a hyperscaler. On-premise keeps control and suits tight data residency rules or heavy customisation. We are partnered with AWS, Google Cloud and Azure, so the recommendation is not tied to one platform.

Will our custom code survive the move to S/4HANA? +

Some of it. We run a code assessment before any commitment, sorting custom objects into three buckets: now standard in S/4HANA, needs remediation, or unused and safe to retire. In most ECC landscapes a large share falls into that last group, quietly inflating estimates until someone checks. Knowing the split early is what makes a timeline real rather than optimistic.
