UAE’s Manufacturer Advances Regulatory Compliance With Accely’s SAP DRC Implementation

Manufacturing in the UAE means dealing with more compliance documentation than most people outside the finance function realise. VAT filings, e-invoice submissions, customs documentation on both import and export, and increasingly specific expectations from the Federal Tax Authority about format and timeliness. A UAE-based manufacturer looked at how they were handling all of that and concluded it would not scale. They engaged Accely for the SAP DRC (Document and Reporting Compliance) implementation.

The current approach was not broken exactly. It worked. But it worked because two people knew where everything was and what needed to happen when. That is a risk profile, not a process. Bringing it into a SAP DRC (Document and Reporting Compliance) implementation framework means the compliance output is generated, validated, and submitted from within SAP rather than assembled around it.

Accely’s scoping started with a document inventory across the business. VAT returns, e-invoices, import declarations, export documentation, each mapped by volume, current handling method, and regulatory deadline. Several document types turned out to be prepared manually outside SAP entirely, using data exported from the system and then reworked.

For a manufacturer, the customs documentation piece has direct operational weight. Raw material imports held at clearance because paperwork was not right does not stay a finance problem for long. It becomes a production problem within days.

Phase one covers VAT and e-invoicing. Customs and export documentation follows once the core framework is proven and the master data cleanup running alongside is complete.

The client selected Accely based on regional compliance experience. Having a SAP implementation partner who has done UAE regulatory work before, rather than learning it on this project, was the deciding factor. Accely’s standing as a SAP Gold partner company in the region reinforced that decision.
