Lighting Experts Manufacturer Go-Live on SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Across Four Countries
Published: July 27, 2026
Overview
Lighting Experts, headquartered in Dubai, operating across the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt has gone live on SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, replacing a set of country-level systems that had stopped keeping up with the business. The company had grown the way a lot of manufacturers grow. A new market opened, someone stood up, whatever system made sense locally, and everyone got on with the job. It worked. Four markets later, it had stopped working. Group finance was assembling a picture of the business from four different sources, in four currencies, with four sets of local rules attached. Nobody could answer a straightforward question about stock or margin without a few days of email. The company brought in Accely, an SAP Gold Partner with delivery teams across the Gulf and the UK, to move all business operations onto a single system.

Business challenges
- Four countries, four ways of working. Each market had built its own processes around its own system. Common master data did not exist, so a product could carry a different code and a different description depending on which entity you asked.
- Statutory compliance was being handled at the edges. ZATCA e-invoicing in Saudi Arabia, ETA in Egypt, VAT reporting in the UK and UAE. Each requirement had been met, but through local workarounds sitting outside the core system rather than inside it.
- The month-end took too long. Consolidating across GBP, AED, SAR and EGP meant manual mapping, manual currency handling and a close cycle that finished well after the leadership team needed the numbers.
- Stock was invisible across borders. Inventory sat in one market while another quoted long lead times on the same item, because no one had a live view across the group.
- The legacy setup could not take another country. Every previous expansion had meant another system, another integration and another set of reports to reconcile. That model had run out of room.
Innovative solutions
Accely approached this as a fit-to-standard programme rather than a technical migration. Public Cloud rewards that discipline. Stay close to standard and the quarterly SAP releases land cleanly. Customise heavily and you spend the next five years paying for it.
Schedule a consultationWE DEPLOYED
SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud across all four country entities on a single instance, with country versions applied per market so local statutory and tax requirements are handled inside the system rather than around it.
WE INTEGRATED
Live connections to the e-invoicing regimes each market operates under, along with banking, warehouse and customer-facing systems, so transactions clear through the required channels without anyone rekeying them.
WE ENABLED
A clean core with common master data across the group, which is what makes the embedded analytics and AI-enabled forecasting in S/4HANA usable rather than theoretical. Shared data was the prerequisite, not the extra.
WE DELIVERED
End-to-end delivery through Accely’s SAP implementation and rollout services, from fit-to-standard workshops through four go-lives to post-launch support, with teams covering UK and Gulf working hours.
Business impact
One operating model, four markets
The group now runs one chart of accounts, one product master and one set of processes. A question about margin in Egypt is answered the same way as a question about margin in the UK.
Compliance inside the system
E-invoicing and statutory reporting run through standard SAP functionality in each country. Local finance teams have stopped maintaining the workarounds that used to sit alongside the old systems.
A faster close
Consolidation across four currencies now happens inside one system. The close finishes in time to be useful, which was the point.
Live stock visibility
Planners can see inventory across all four markets in real time. Stock that used to sit unnoticed in one country now gets allocated where the demand actually is.
Room to add the next market
Adding a fifth country is now a configuration exercise on an existing instance. It no longer means another system and another integration project.
A platform that can take AI
With a clean core and consistent data across the group, the AI capabilities embedded in S/4HANA have something reliable to work with. That was not possible when every market held its own version of the truth.
Impact that matters
42%
Reduction in month-end close time after consolidation moved into a single system across four currencies.
58%
Reduction in manual effort on statutory reporting, with e-invoicing and VAT handled through standard functionality in each market.
76%
Improvement in cross-market stock visibility, giving planners a live view of inventory across all four countries.
