Retail is a high-transaction environment. Thousands of invoices move daily across suppliers, franchisees, and customer accounts, and when a mandate like the UAE’s FTA e-invoicing requirement hits, the volume problem becomes a compliance problem very quickly. A UAE-based retail chain recently decided not to wait for the deadline to find out the hard way. They approached Accely early, with enough runway to actually implement properly, and have started a structured UAE e-invoicing solution rollout across their operations.
The business runs on SAP. Purchase orders, vendor invoices, customer billing, all of it flows through SAP, which makes e-invoice integration straightforward in theory. In practice, the complication is always in the exceptions: non-standard supplier formats, invoices generated outside the core ERP, legacy document workflows that never made it into the main system. Accely’s first task was identifying exactly where those exceptions live and how to bring them inside the compliance boundary.
The retail sector in the UAE is also dealing with another layer of pressure. Supplier relationships are built on payment terms, and anything that introduces uncertainty around invoice acceptance, timing, or format creates friction in those relationships. Getting AI-enabled compliance right is not just about satisfying the FTA. It is about protecting the supply chain reliability that retail operations depend on.
Accely’s team has now completed the initial configuration phase and is moving into testing with a subset of the client’s highest-volume supplier invoices. The logic here is straightforward. You want to find the edge cases before they become live failures, not after. Running the most complex document types through the new system in a controlled environment gives you a clear picture of where the exceptions need additional handling.
The broader rollout is expected to complete well ahead of the FTA’s phased deadlines, which gives the client room to train their internal teams and build confidence in the new process before volumes peak again in Q4.
Accely standing as an autonomous enterprise SAP partner made this a natural fit for a client already running SAP at the core of their retail operations. The path forward from compliance into genuine enterprise digital transformation is one Accely and the client have started mapping together.
